X-rays are a diagnostic procedure used by medical and chiropractic doctors to help discover the cause of your pain and rule out possible pathology. However, in addition to ruling out abnormalities or looking for conditions such as arthritis or disc degeneration, chiropractors look at the biomechanical alignment of the spine and vertebrae. Are the vertebrae in their proper position? Is the spine straight when looking at it from behind, and does it have the proper curve angles when looking from the side? This is an area of analysis where chiropractors often distinguish themselves from medical doctors. Because chiropractors focus on the correction of spinal misalignment, specialized attention is given to this area of diagnosis.
In addition to fulfilling the rigorous radiology requirements that all doctors must complete, Dr. Berglund also completed an additional 100 hour course of radiology study in spinal and skeletal disorders beyond his required course of study in school. After a thorough examination, Dr. Berglund will determine whether an x-ray is recommended or not. Not everyone will require an x-ray, and a minimal amount of views will be taken for those who do.
There’s an old saying regarding taking an x-ray which states “to see is to know, and not to see is to guess” and when it comes to your health, we won’t guess.
We offer state-of-the-art computerized muscle testing to help determine muscle injury, weakness and/or imbalance. Surface electromyography is a non-invasive test that does not cause pain or irritation, so it is safe to perform on everyone – including children, pregnant women, and seniors.
Wireless sensors are touched to the skin near the spine. The severity and location of the muscle spasm, as well as any muscle imbalance, is then recorded. This is an important means of objectively documenting your injury as well as for charting your improvement to care.
Surface electromyography testing measures the amount of electrical activity your muscles release when they are contracting. When your spine is out of alignment and subluxations are present, the nervous system is negatively affected resulting in increases or decreases in muscle activity. Examining your muscles and seeing where spasms and imbalances exist, helps us to detect spinal misalignment, muscle problems, and chart your response to care.
If you’d like a copy of your exam results sent to you, we can email you a copy to show your friends and family. For patients involved in an accident who have a legal case, we can send a copy of your results directly to your attorney along with a full description of the findings.
At Berglund Chiropractic & Wellness, we utilize objective, computerized testing to measure the range of motion of your neck and back. By doing so, we are able to first establish a base line of how far you are able to bend, turn and extend, and compare your results to normal values – documenting the severity of your condition.
During your course of care, we then are able to chart your progress and response to treatment by comparing your latest results to when you first started care. As spinal joints “unlock” and vertebrae begin to reestablish their correct position, their range of motion improves.
Our patients not only love experiencing the increased movement of their spine following the correction of their spinal misalignment, but seeing the measured degree of improvement gives them an additional sense of accomplishment.
If you've been involved in an automobile accident or other injury, being able to document your exact restriction of spinal movement is a valuable tool. We can send a copy of the results directly to your attorney along with a full description of the findings.
No Obligation! Let's sit down and discuss your health concerns to see if we can help you.
