The last thing we want is for you to come into our office in a major health crises and so we encourage you to take your health very seriously. As the old saying goes, if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything. Unfortunately, too many people do not discover how true that statement is until it’s too late. If you’re in pain, call our office today and let us help you get back on the road to recovery and health.

1How long does it take to start feeling better?
While some patients experience relief instantly, others discover it can take many weeks or months. There are many factors that can affect the healing process such as how long you have had your problem, the severity of your condition, keeping your appointments, and following through with home care recommendations? Most patients experience enough progress within a short period of time to justify completing our recommendations.
2What insurances do you accept?
We accept most insurances including Anthem BC/BS, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oxford, Healthnet/Landmark and Medicare. We’re here to help you… with a quick call to our office and a little information, our staff will contact your insurance company, varify your benefits and let you know about your coverage before you start care.
3Limited Insurance? No insurance?
At Berglund Chiropractic & Wellness, we believe that it is more important to take care of your health than to ignore it. If you have limited or no chiropractic insurance benefits, please know that we offer affordable treatment options and flexible payment plans so you can receive the care that you need.
4Can I just take some muscle relaxers or pain killers instead?
Chiropractors do not prescribe or dispense drugs of any kind. Medication often masks your symptoms, allowing you to further injure yourself because you have “numbed” your bodies warning signals that there is a problem. it is important to remember that muscle relaxors and pain medications do not correct the underlying cause of your problem (what is actually causing the muscle to spasm or the pain to occur). In addition, virtually every drug produces side effects which can include stomach problems, kidney failure, liver damage, addiction and even death. Chiropractors focus on the cause your pain and health problem, and work to correct it – helping your body recover quickly and naturally.
5Can I go to the Chiropractor if I’m pregnant?
Yes! We have patients under care who have just found out they are pregnant all the way through patients who are about to deliver. To our patients delight, our specially designed treatment tables even allow you to lay face down right through your nineth month of pregnancy! Chiropractic care is safe for you and your baby, and can help you achieve a healthier pregnancy and delivery. The safety, effectiveness and health benefits of chiropractic care for pregnant women have been demonstrated in numerous clinical studies. In one study conducted by a member of the American Medical Association board of trustees, Irvin Henderson, M.D., it was shown that women who received chiropractic adjustments in their third trimester of pregnancy were able to carry and deliver children with more comfort. Another study conducted by a well-known orthopedist, Per Freitag, M.D. revealed in a hospital study that incorporated chiropractic adjustments during the patient’s pregnancy, that the need for painkillers during delivery was reduced by half!

FAQ: Automobile Accidents

If your M.D. has given you medication, you must understand that pills do not correct structural or soft tissue damage – they only mask the pain. Chiropractors are uniquely trained to locate and correct many injuries which often occur following an auto accident.

1What If My Car Sustained Only Minor Damage?
Documented medical research studies including those done by Charles Carroll, M.D., Paul McAtee, M.D. and Lee Riley, M.D. revealed that: “The amount of damage to the automobile bears little relation to the force applied to the cervical spine (neck) of the occupants.” In other words, the damage to the passengers is not necessarily directly related to the damage to the vehicle.
2I’ve Been to the Hospital And My Medical Doctor, Do I Really Need to See A Chiropractor?
You need a doctor who focuses on the treatment and diagnosis of auto accident injuries. Usually hospitals will check vital signs, make sure there are no life-threatening conditions and release the patient with pain relief medication. They normally do not treat the underlying musculoskeletal biomechanical injuries that often cause or lead to future pain and suffering. If you are still having problems, you should get a second opinion.
3My Insurance Company Has Been Calling Me And Wants To Settle, What Should I Do?
We recommend that you do not sign or settle until you have undergone a Chiropractic examination for biomechanical injuries. If you settle before your injury is fully diagnosed and treated, you will be completely on your own and will have to pay out-of-pocket for your care.
4If I Need Treatment For This Injury, Do I Have To Pay For It Myself?
No; only in very rare circumstances does the patient pay for their care out-of-pocket. Some car insurance policies have what is called “Med Pay.” This means that medical bills will be paid at 100% up to a certain limit. Our office can assist you in obtaining this information. If you are represented by an attorney, our office will provide care to you and will wait for payment until the settlement of your case is obtained.
5Should I Meet With An Attorney Before I See A Chiropractor?
It is important to get checked out by the doctor first to see if you have serious injuries caused by the accident. Findings from your exam helps provide you with the information needed in order to decide if an attorney is necessary. Not all accidents will require an attorney, but, if you don’t already have one and are in need, we can refer you to a reputable and qualified lawyer if desired.
